These Black Men Used Their Power Against The Black Community

"Uncle Tom" is a cold description, but we need to call them out, especially when they’ve made it harder for us economically and socially.

 #1: Herman Cain

Herman Cain was a prominent Black business owner who staunchly supported the Tea Party. Though never elected into public office, his economic plans held sway with most Republicans because he favored cutting social programs that are vital to the Black community.

#2 Clarence Thomas

Putting aside that his wife tried to overturn the last election, Thomas has been living above the law. He failed to disclose his wife's income - a federal crime in his position - and yet, served no time. He has yet to recuse himself from any cases about the January 6th insurrection, even though his wife is directly connected to it.

#3: Ben Carson

A renowned pediatric neurosurgeon, Carson moved to politics in 2014, becoming a commentator on Fox News. If that wasn't enough of a red flag, when he became the Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, he tried to end housing regulations that prevented discrimination and supported rent increases for low-income Black families.

These powerful men should be trying to help the Black community. Instead, they're actively tearing it down in favor of pats on the head from our white oppressors. Uncle Toms, indeed.
