Businesses of all kinds want to support students in their academic and personal pursuits. But let’s face it, some items are just way too expensive for the lean budgets of most college attendees.

But these markdowns may be just the opening students need to avoid sticker shock.

Laptop makers Apple, Microsoft, HP, and Lenovo all have student pricing programs. Register with each merchant using a .edu email address to receive anywhere from 5-35% off your purchase.

And what about music and entertainment streaming services?

Music streamers Spotify and Apple Music both offer student discounts on their monthly subscription pricing.

Spotify, for example, offers a three-month free trial of their Premium membership which includes Hulu and Showtime. After the trial ends, the monthly fee is just $4.99/month. All you need to sign up is your university assigned email address.

Students need help managing their bank accounts too!

Budgeting software You Need A Budget offers its extensive catalog of money management tools and courses to college students for free for one year. Bank of America and Wells Fargo also have their own monthly fee-free checking accounts for students, too. All you have to do is request more information about student services.

Use your student ID, email address, or simply ask customer service at time of purchase – and who knows what offers they’re prepared to make to keep students loyally returning for more.
