Know the value of your product.

Before anything, ask yourself, “What problem can my product solve for the customer? Why does the customer need MY product?” It doesn’t have to be complicated. Handcrafted jewelry, for instance, solves the customer’s need to accessorize. Once you can answer this, and communicate it to your customer, you’re ready to get started.

Tell an engaging story about your product or brand.

Whether you tell the story through the merchandise or in words, this is an opportunity to get your customer hooked on whatever you’re selling. Not only do they need it, but now they also WANT it.

Get the word out.

In today’s age, social media is the key to almost everything. So don’t be afraid to use it to reach customers. Create business accounts and take out ads on Google, Instagram, and other social media sites with links to your page. Proudly let the world know about your product!

Stick to what you know.

If you don’t have a product yet and just aren’t sure where to begin, go back to the basics. What do you love? What activities get you excited? Start seeing business opportunities in everything, and visit other sellers on sites like Etsy to get inspired by thriving side hustles.

Don’t be afraid of failure!

The world of e-commerce doesn’t have to be scary as long as you learn from your mistakes, have fun doing what you love, and keep grinding!
