In 1906, Madam C.J. Walker launched her line of Black hair-care products, becoming the first self-made, Black woman millionaire in history.
Now, 116 years later, she’s back at it again! How?
While Walker died in 1919, her great-great-granddaughter, A’Lelia Bundles, strives to keep her legacy alive. In a collaboration with Walmart and Sundial Brands, Bundles recently co-designed a new line – MADAM by Madam C.J. Walker.
Inspired by Walker’s original line, MADAM is a collection of 11 affordable hair-care products, each costing under $10! And like Walker, the line has an important message.
Walker started her business when she was 38! She reinvented herself, her career, and created a lane for Black women to follow in her footsteps.
Over a century later, her legacy reminds us that we can pursue our passions at any age AND use our gifts to uplift our community. This legacy is something Bundles wanted younger generations to take away from MADAM.
Before starting a business, we must ask, “What is our desired long-term impact?” Walker had a great business idea, but more, she had a mission – to inspire Black women to love themselves and be independent.
MADAM is dedicated to inspiring Black women to pursue their dreams and tell their own stories. What will be YOUR legacy?
