Recently, thousands of people have quit unfulfilling, low-paying jobs in search of something better. If you’re trying to get back into the workforce or find a new position, you need to spruce up your résumé.

Before you hit submit on that dream job application, make sure it’s on point!

#1: Check Those Keywords

Most companies these days run résumés through software that searches for keywords before a human ever gets a glimpse. Check the qualifications and duties for the job you want and make sure to plug in those specific words into your résumé.

#2: Above the Fold

The most important part is the top half! If your résumé does get looked at, hiring managers will likely skim everything – but pay most attention to the top. In this section keep your name bold, add only important contact information, and get into your relevant experience quickly.

#3: Numbers Are Your Friend

Numbers tend to stand out since résumés are mostly words. Give specifics of average numbers of customers or clients served, dollar amounts in profits you brought to a company, or how many people you managed.

Job hunting is always hard, and there’s a LOT of luck involved. But with these tips, your résumé can stand out from the pack. Good luck!
