We’re facing record levels of unemployment due to COVID-19 – and when the pandemic is “over,” the employment landscape will have changed forever.

Here are some tips to prepare yourself, and the next generation, for a post-COVID-19 job.

#1: Working from home

Remote work may be the future. You’ll need a functional computer and reliable, high-speed internet. Some ISPs offer free or low-cost packages!

You might also have to venture into an unfamiliar field, but Remote.co and FlexJobs.com are currently showing countless entry level remote opportunities.

#2: Get Familiar With Technology

Jobs in the future may be powered almost completely with technology. Touchscreens won’t just be at the self-checkout counter at the grocery store – they’ll be everywhere!

That might mean asking your kids to get you up to speed on how to use that iPad.

#3: Get Your Kids In STEAM Classes

STEAM – which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math – is the future. Your kids NEED to be enrolled!

CodeWizardsHQ.com has a list of dozens of free, fun coding classes for kids of all ages.

#4: Back To School?

Do you need to brush up on STEAM too? Black people are way underrepresented in STEAM careers. Community colleges are an affordable, accessible option – and an Associate’s degree could be your gateway to a high-paying post-COVID career!
