Gifting Land Is An Underutilized Wealth Building Tool

In 1865, Union General Sherman ordered the distribution of 40 acres of land to formerly enslaved Africans. Black leaders pioneered the idea – the one thing we needed the most after freedom, they said, was land!

That land was soon stolen back by the next president, Andrew Johnson. But what might’ve happened if we’d kept it? We might not have to wonder.

Black Americans own less land now than we ever have. But purchasing it isn't just for rich people – decent sized plots can be bought for the same price as a used car

And many Black people are realizing how transformative a plot of land can be – as a gift.

Land ownership can be used for building wealth and passing it down to the next generation – which also makes it a perfect present.

For big events, we often gift loved ones cars, jewelry, and soon-to-be-outdated electronics. But land achieves something these gifts could never!

Land appreciates – meaning it usually grows in value over time. Whether one decides to start a business, build a home, or farm on gifted land, they control it because they own it!

A gift of land has the potential to be the next step in your family’s wealth building journey. Will you ditch a traditional gift for one, like land, that appreciates and contributes to financial liberation?
