Many jobs of the future will be built on technology – and technology is built on coding. Coding is how websites, computer programs, and machines function.

If you want yourself, or your children, to be ready for the future, coding might be a great career path. Here are four ways to teach yourself to code, from home, for free!

#1: Code.org

Code.org is primarily built for children, but it can be a great start for beginners of any age! Learn the basics through 1-hour coding exercises that generate games and animations – it’s fun and simple to start.

#2: TwilioQuest

If you’re a fan of video games, Twilio.com/quest is for you. Though it looks like you’re playing a fun role-playing game, you’re really learning how to code!

#3 Free Code Camp

Freecodecamp.org takes a community-based approach. They offer study groups that put learners together so they can support each others’ progress – if you’re worried about going it alone, this could be the perfect route for you.

#4 Code Academy

If you’re ready to get serious, CodeAcademy.com is the place to do it. The basic plan is free. The membership plan is $20 per month – but you will get a professional-level coding education from the best platform out there!
