Emergency pandemic aid is finally on the way once again! Here’s what you can expect from the $1.9 trillion stimulus package President Biden just signed into law.
Checks
Direct payments are on the way! In terms of eligibility, individual taxpayers making $80,000 or less, single parents with household income of $120,000 or less, and couples making $160,000 or less can expect to receive stimulus payments of $1,400 – more if you have children – starting in the coming days.
Unemployment Benefits
Enhanced federal unemployment benefits will provide $300 extra per week to jobless Americans. The extension is slated to last until September 30, Labor Day.
Vaccine Aid
$14 billion of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act stimulus package is dedicated to the research, development, and distribution of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Other sorely needed tax credits as well as food, rental, utility, and mortgage aid are also included in the bill – and some experts are forecasting it will cut child poverty in HALF! Yes, you read that right.
But ultimately, the measure is a good next step in addressing the many crippling effects of a year-long pandemic that has killed over half a million Americans, affecting countless lives, entire industries, jobs, and schools.
