Not all of us are seeking a quiet, relaxing experience post worklife. Here are options to make your retirement more comfortable, even if you still want to stay in the workforce.

#1 Stick to what you know

Retired from something that you loved doing or were good at? No rule says you can’t continue in that career post-retirement. Just keep the hours part-time to avoid any social security penalties.

#2 Head back to school

Having an impact on young Black minds is incredibly rewarding. Schools are always looking for monitors, nurses, librarians, substitutes, and adjunct professors. The best part of these jobs is the guaranteed summer vacation and holiday time off.

#3 Code switch to customer service

Customer service roles cover many fields, many of which can be done from the comfort of your home. These positions provide plenty of social interaction and allow full or part-time hours.

We shouldn’t have to work in our wiser years, but that doesn’t mean everyone feels that way or wants to kick back in retirement communities. The dictates of society shouldn’t restrain you from finding fulfillment however you wish. Retirement can be whatever you want it to be.
