Black People Face Worse Health Outcomes Due To Lack Of Wealth

From Jim Crow laws to white politicians actively voting against laws that would help, white supremacy has always gone out of its way to ensure that Black folks have nothing. This is especially true when it comes to wealth. They hoard it all for themselves.

The reasoning behind it is more than greed.

Unsurprisingly, wealth and health are linked. The more money a person has, the more likely they are to have access to healthier food options, medical care, and fitness classes or trainers. If supremacy can keep Black people poor, it can cut our life expectancy.

It has.

We have a lower life expectancy from birth. Forcing Black people into low-income neighborhoods, food deserts, and low-paying jobs, shortens our life expectancies. When factoring in generational wealth, the gap grows even more.

The National Library of Medicine found that more generational wealth led people to live longer, healthier lives with fewer health issues. Those who didn't fare well in the study? Black, low-income families with little generational wealth.

For centuries, this country's oppression has made it so that our community finds it near impossible to prosper. It's calculated. If ever there was a time to focus on working together to build our wealth as a people, this is it!
