President Trump has lied about COVID-19 from the beginning. Could he lie about the upcoming COVID-19 vaccine, too?
As various companies rush to create vaccines for COVID-19, many wonder if Trump will push for it to be released before it’s ready and/or lie about its effectiveness.
“I would not trust Donald Trump [on a vaccine],” indicated Sen. Kamala Harris. She would only trust “a credible source of information” like scientists, she said.
The vaccine will only be effective if enough people take it – and if it’s actually effective.
Many Americans have refused to follow precautions, like mask-wearing, that would help to get the virus under control. So to many, a vaccine is the only hope that our lives, jobs, and businesses can return to “normal.” But even when a vaccine comes, COVID-19 won’t just disappear.
If people don’t trust the vaccine because they feel Trump rushed it for political reasons, or if he DOES rush it and the vaccine is ineffective, the U.S. could be in for an incredibly prolonged road to recovery.
For a variety of reasons, only about half of Americans plan to get the vaccine. If that stays true, “normal” won’t arrive for a very long time.
However, if science can overcome politics, and an effective vaccine is widely adopted, it could be the beginning of the end of our COVID-19 nightmare.
